Lauren M. Winston earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Irvine in 1990 and her Juris Doctor degree from Southwestern University School of Law, in 1995, where she served on the Moot Court Honors Program.
Ms. Winston earned several awards in Law School, including: American Jurisprudence Book Award (Legal Research and Writing), Exceptional Achievement Award (Constitutional Law Seminar), Clare Schweitzer Moot Court Scholarship Award, Best Brief Writer, First Place – Moot Court Oral and Writing Competition.
After graduating from Law School, Ms. Winston practiced civil litigation, including class action securities fraud, corporate litigation, construction defect and real estate, employment litigation, toxic tort, product liability and personal injury. In addition, Ms. Winston worked as a Deputy District Attorney with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, where she prosecuted felonies and misdemeanors and conducted more than sixty jury trials.
Ms. Winston’s practice at Hardiman & Carroll focuses on construction defect and construction injury cases. Ms. Winston is a member of the State Bar of California and has been admitted to practice before the United State District Courts for Northern and Central Districts of California.
Representative Cases
- In Butte County, successfully obtained Summary Judgement in complex construction injury case, based on Privette-Toland grounds for general contractor defendant.
- In wrongful death case involving the death of a teenager, successfully obtained dismissal of manufactured home dealer defendant after extensive briefing and declarations submitted in support of request for dismissal.
- In complex, multi-party asbestos case in San Francisco County, successfully obtained dismissal of general contractor client after obtaining favorable testimony for client in cross-examination of plaintiff.
- In complex, multi-party construction defect case in Santa Cruz County, successfully obtained dismissals of two subcontractor clients after conducting extensive written discovery.
In her spare time, Ms. Winston enjoys white water kayaking, skiing, scuba diving and swimming.
